A Stray Poem was on my front porch one clear Spring morning as I stepped outside to glimpse the sunrise It was a small timid text half-hidden under a wooden stool beside some potted ferns which flinched away as I took a step closer Someone must have abandoned the poor thing-- a passerby (perhaps) to the countryside thoughtless and cruel enough to throw what they refused to care for away on the fierce winds I went back inside and returned accompanied by a poetry anthology from which I read aloud one piece after another with great care until . . . little by little . . . the Stray Poem emerged

Isn’t it a wondrous notion . . . the way almost anything can mean many things? Take the sunset for example... Please come with me on an experimental ride upon a composed elevator that appears much like the glass variety of Willy Wonka literary fame except it forms one line at a time upon this page and comes complete with doors that slide wide open in a clear invitation for you to carefully step into its spacious interior. (“Please watch your step, all Readers,” an announcement will chime over the intercom attached to the ceiling towards the back) Can you hear the doors shut with a gentle click? Then our elevator will begin its descent in a slow but gradual manner for your comfort while the margins that stretch on either side reveal nothing until you might happen to notice golden eyes flicker deep within the canvas depths and two hawks appear who fly in a circle around our transport then disappear.
